The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chairman and a new CEO for the Clinique Saint-Jean.

  • Prof. Dr. Patrick De Coster as Chairman of the Board of Directors
  • Alexandre Deschuymere as CEO

Patrick De Coster, administrator of Clinique Saint-Jean for the past 2 years, is a recognized expert in hospital management. After training in internal medicine, cardiology and nuclear medicine, a master's degree in public health and a stay of almost two years at the Hammersmiths Hospital in London, he took over the management of the nuclear medicine department of the Cliniques universitaires UCL in Mont Godinne in 1986.
He was president of the Réseau Santé Louvain and the Ecole de Santé Publique of the UCL for several years.
He has been administrator of several non-profit associations in the medico-social world, including the Cliniques Universitaires Saint Luc.
He is currently Vice President of the Jolimont hospital group, administrator of the Hélora network, and member of the superior council of specialists and general practitioners.
From 1991 to 2016, he held the position of General Manager of the Cliniques de Mont Godinne, of which he led the merger with the hospital center of Dinant and the Clinique Sainte Elisabeth of Namur.
Since 2009, he has seen in the participative "Lean" approach a managerial framework that promotes the values he has always defended and has therefore decided to implement this transformation at the institutional level.
In addition, he was appointed as an ordinary clinical professor at the UCL in 2001. He is in charge of teaching hospital management at the Faculty of Public Health of UCLouvain as well as at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, the Université of Namur, the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique (EHESP - France) and the Ecole of Management in Strasbourg.
He also served as Vice-Rector of the Université of Namur from 2019 to 2021.
Currently a professor emeritus, in addition to his duties as an administrator, he devotes his time to accompanying management committees in the healthcare world, mainly in France, who wish to deploy a global managerial transformation of their institution. During the last few months, he has been the liaison between the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee and the medical profession in the context of these changes. He has provided constructive support and shared sound advice to support the current governance.

Alexandre Deschuymere, began his career at Clinique Saint-Jean in 1990. His professional career has led him to take on several hospital management functions within the Care, Hospital Hygiene, Finance, Patient Administration, Quality and Safety, Mediation and Logistics departments. With 32 years of seniority and expertise within the clinic, he has proven time and again his concern for federating and bringing together all stakeholders around the institutional mission, as well as his deep attachment to the fundamental values of our clinic.

The Board of Directors assures Prof. Dr. Patrick De Coster and Alexandre Deschuymere of its full support and confidence. We wish them every success and satisfaction in their new positions. We are convinced that both of them, with the support and collaboration of all the collaborators and doctors, will be able to offer a new dynamic impetus to our clinic, to continue its evolution and to offer quality care to all in the heart of Brussels.
