Ariane is the department of geriatric psychiatry at Clinic Saint-Jean. This department treats patients over 75 years of age suffering from psychiatric or neurocognitive conditions

Admission

Admissions are accepted Monday to Friday, between 8h30 and 11h00.

Which conditions?

The following psychiatric conditions suffered by elderly persons are managed:

• Psychiatric conditions
• Alcoholism and dependency issues
• Dementia conditions (Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body dementia, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia)
• Organic mental disorders (stroke, brain tumours, Parkinson’s disease, syndrome de Korsakoff syndrome).
• Motor rehabilitation for cognitive disorders

Cross-disciplinary team

Patient management is comprehensive, based on a cross-disciplinary approach, and with continuity of care in mind.

The care team, under the supervision of a head nurse and a supervising physician, provides you with treatment around the clock.

The patient may also be seen by one or more of the following persons: an occupational therapist, a speech therapist, a physiotherapist, a dietician, an attending physician, a pharmacist, a psychiatrist, a psychologist, a social worker

Discharge

A plan for discharge and future care will be explored with you and, as necessary, with your family and the nursing care and medical staff, in seeking the best outcomes for each individual.

Once this plan for discharge and future care has been determined, you are informed that you are ready to be discharged and you are given assistance in taking the necessary practical measures to this end.

Once  these practical arrangements have been made, a discharge date is discussed and the plan for discharge and future care along with the practical arrangements for this are shared with you.

When you are discharged, a medical report including multidisciplinary management details is sent to your attending physician.
