Radiotherapy

Radiothérapie

All of the current treatments are recommended by contracted medical specialists. The various existing methods are:

  • External radiotherapy (conformational 3D radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT, RapidArc)),
  • Internal radiotherapy (high-dose and low-dose brachytherapy, radioactive iodine seed implants,
  • Contact radiotherapy (50KV).

The Radiotherapy Department has technical facilities equipped with two high-tech linear accelerators for state-of-the-art techniques like RapidArc® et Scanner CT Cone Beam.

Inevitably and for the good of the patient, advances like these are revolutionising existing radiotherapy treatments, both for patient comfort and for keeping expansion of his tumour under control. Most of all, however, these modern techniques protect the healthy tissue adjacent to the target zones better (than before) owing to their precision with regard to the location and the limited volume of tissue receiving the prescribed dose.

The outcome of this is better results from the standpoint of controlling the disease and significantly reducing the side effects.
