Non-surgical interventions

If the patient’s BMI is between 25 and 40 (or 35 depending on certain conditions), surgery will not be necessary. Subject to the patient’s needs, the care pathway that Clinique Saint-Jean provides will be non-surgical and based on education and medical care.
This care pathway includes:

  • A meeting with a doctor specializing in nutrition. A personalized follow-up will be set up with the patient, and advice will be given to improve their eating behaviour.
  • Consultations with a psychologist for psychological and behavioural support at a frequency to be determined individually.
  • Exercise individually or in a group with a physiotherapist.
  • The patient may also need to take dietary supplements or medication.
  • A gastroenterologist may advise the placement of a gastric balloon if the patient’s BMI is above 30.
