Group activities for cancer patients and their loved ones, during the treatment and aftercare phases
Harmonie is a project run by Clinic Saint-Jean that aims to offer group activities for cancer patients and their loved ones, during the treatment and aftercare phases. The aim of these activities is to promote the physical, psychological and social well-being of patients and their caregivers, whether they are treated at Clinic Saint-Jean or another hospital in the Brussels Region.
A project carried out with the support of the Fondation contre le cancer.
Harmonie offers three types of activities:
Information workshops
These workshops aim to share knowledge and allow for deeper exploration of specific topics (e.g., fatigue and physical exercise, benefits of acupuncture, nutrition, returning to work, etc.). They are led by specialists in the respective fields.
Sessions are conducted in French, but an interpreter (Dutch, Turkish, Arabic, Russian, etc.) can be provided upon request, subject to availability. This request must be specified at the time of registration.
Discovery workshops
These workshops offer the opportunity to try out a new practice (e.g., yoga, gentle boxing, dance, etc.) adapted for oncology patients. Participants can then choose to pursue the activity further outside of the Harmonie program if they wish.
Harmonie workshops
These workshops provide a space for meeting and sharing through a common activity (e.g., writing, art therapy, body care, cooking workshops, etc.). They are led by professionals specialized in oncology.

They say it better than we do
“Bringing together people who are going through the same thing is so wonderful. I think we all feel that it's only within this group that we're understood on every level. Everyone respects each other's boundaries, which makes us feel safe and eager to see each other again soon.” - Vanessa
"Harmonie allows me to get out of the house, meet people at workshops I choose, and share my feelings at that moment if I want to: my mood, my pain, my fatigue, my reactions to treatments... The activities give me the opportunity to keep my hands or mind busy, or simply to move around. It does me a lot of good and frees my mind. For a moment, I forget all my worries and my pain." - Catherine
"I'm very satisfied with the activities offered by Harmonie. I would definitely recommend them to others.” - Sofie
"I sign up for almost all the activities because it feels so good to meet others and just be together, even though I'm sometimes very tired. I have participated in the psycho-spiritual meetings organized every two weeks with Astrid, who helps us put deep emotions into words through inspiring texts. I also enjoyed the skin care, hand reflexology, yoga, and Qi Gong: new approaches to movement that teach me how to relax. I also had the chance to go on a museum outing, to discover new art together and think about something other than illness." - Clara Maria
"I took part in a few workshops that I didn't know about and would never have done otherwise, such as colorimetry, facial yoga, writing workshops, walks, visits to exhibitions, and others still to come... I also tried art therapy, which I highly recommend. Interacting with other patients suffering from different conditions also taught me a lot. The respect for each other, the realization that we are not alone in experiencing these kinds of difficulties, the mutual understanding, and the courage of these women helped me and still help me today. It also gives me confidence and encourages me to see the positive side of life." - Catherine
